Surgery of extracerebral tumors is one of the most complicated and promising (both for a doctor and patient) sections of neurosurgery. It is known, that there have been many achievements in surgery of cerebral meningiomas, including difficult-of-access tumors of parastem localization. However, obtaining good results of treatment demands observance of some absolutely new approaches to surgical tactics, microneurosurgical technique, anesthesiologic support and monitoring of a state of vital functions and cranial nerves both during operation and in the nearest postoperative period.
The report describes experience of surgical treatment of intracranial meningiomas, accumulated in the Neurooncologic Department of the Institute, other leading Russian and foreign clinics.
