PROSTHETICS OF LIGAMENTOUS-CARTILAGINOUS AND BONE STRUCTURES OF THE SPINE BY METAL CONSTRUCTIONS MADE OF TITANIUM NICKELIDE (NITINOL) WITH MEMORY FOR A SHAPE AND SUPERELASTICITY

Metal constructions made of titanium nickelide with thermomechanical memory were used in spinal injuries in an acute period of vertebral-cerebrospinal trauma and postoperatively. There was reliable fixation of vertebrae fragments and injured vertebral-locomotive segments.

Besides, these constructions are used successfully in prosthetics of injured ligaments, intervertebral disks and restoration of separate lost (removed) parts of vertebrae.

Metal constructions made of nitinol allow to avoid repeated dislocation of vertebrae, development of instability and to prevent marked scarring and compression of the spinal cord as well as to provide protection from external mechanical effects. Moreover, they make it possible to start active and extensive rehabilitation earlier than usual.
