The authors describe a patient with arteriovenous malformation of the left temporoparietal area who underwent endovascular operation with its thrombosing by histoacryl.

The patient developed abscess in a zone of thrombosed malformation against the background of a favourable postoperative period (in 4 months). It was caused by periodontitis with periostitis and lymphadenitis on the left side. Bacteriologic examination of abscess content was indicative of Staphylococcus aureus. Conservative treatment and subsequent abscess drainage gave a short-term effect during 4 months. Thus, a direct surgical intervetion with simultaneous removal of abscess and thrombosed malformation was made.

Clinical data, results of CT, MRI and cerebral angiography, macro- and micromorphological specimens are presented. Etiology and pathogenesis of abscess development are discussed.
